How it works

  1. Book canola seed for crop year 2026 with Cargill and add Cargill MarketGuard prior to invoicing.
  • Eligible for 10 bu/acre Cargill MarketGuard tonnage if purchase less than 48 bags.
  • Eligible for 15 bu/acre Cargill MarketGuard tonnage if purchase is 48+ bags.
  1. Enroll in Cargill Power Canola™ for crop year 2026.
  2. Establish a merchandising contract by July 15, 2026 and use the benefits of Cargill MarketGuard. If a weather event or crop loss occurs, provide notice to Cargill within 48 hours. A Cargill representative will inspect the affected fields.
  3. Once your claim is approved, Cargill absorbs the contract buyout cost (cancellation cost + futures spread) and you are not obligated to deliver against those contracts.

What you need to know:

How will my canola deliveries be applied to meet the Cargill MarketGuard obligation? 

Cargill MarketGuard will apply to first delivery period tonnes in the 2026 crop year. Cargill MarketGuard obligations will be satisfied from whole farm 2026 canola production and is not restricted to fields where Cargill retail seed is grown. 

What if my canola does not meet spec? 

Cargill MarketGuard is not a canola quality program. If delivered canola does not meet spec, delivery is still required or contract cancellation costs apply as normal. 

Can I sign up for Cargill MarketGuard if I am part of the Victory Canola Program? 

Cargill MarketGuard can be used with all commodity canola hybrids and delivery months offered by Cargill in the 2026 crop year. However, this offer cannot be combined with Victory Canola Program seed purchases to increase tiers of risk free/Cargill MarketGuard tonnage for either program. 

How is my eligibility calculated? 

Conversion of 10 acres/bag will be used to calculate eligible Cargill MarketGuard tonnage. In the event of a weather event or crop loss, Cargill reserves the right to request crop insurance documentation. 

When is the Cargill MarketGuard Plus account credit available? 

Cargill MarketGuard account credit will be issued starting on September 1, 2026. The account credit expires on September 1, 2028.
